Hovis Custom Builders, Inc. is guided by years of experience, innovation, vision and passion in the custom building industry. Dan Hovis, president and founder established the business in 1993 and decided to build with steel framing thus eliminating termite infestations. The company grew and research told him to incorporate energy efficiency into all our homes and that's the time ICF Block became the outside wall structure and steel framing was used for the interior. The success continued and today we have built over 100 custom homes and never built the same floor plan twice.
Prior to 1993, Dan obtained his college degree in accounting; thus became a CPA working for Peat Marwick. He then entered the financial banking sector and was promoted to CFO of Florida National Bank.
Dan not only has a state of Florida contractor's licence but continues to keep his CPA & Brokers' licence current. In addition to those accreditations, Hovis Custom Builders, Inc. is an Energy Star Partner® builder, a BuildSmart® partner with Florida Power & Light, and a Green Build® partner with JEA.
Our expertise is in our innovative building practices, specializing in Insulating Concrete Forms (ICF Block), light gauge steel framing, Geothermal - Water Furnace® or Trane® - Dual speed compressors & Multi-speed Air Handlers - HVAC systems, spray foam closed-cell insulation and numerous other technologies that enhance a home not only structurally but make the interior breath takingly exquisite.
